The Business Challenge
For decades, Australian schoolchildren have been learning the basics of banking and saving through the Commonwealth Bank’s Dollarmites program. Though the process was lucrative and inefficient, a solution was vital for enlightening kids with fundamental financial concepts. The business requirements were;
- Parents or kids send chores, actions, jobs, tasks or anything else around the home and attach a financial reward
- Kids complete their tasks, chores or actions and mark them off in the app while collecting and tracking the money they earn in their Pennybox wallet.
The Solution
For our client, we built an iOS native application. Pennybox is a mobile application which aims to improve financial literacy by having kids interact with their parents on a daily basis about money. The app has parents list chores on the app and attaches dollar values to them, with kids then completing the tasks and collecting the money into their Pennybox account. Like any bank account, kids can then track how much they have saved, how much they have spent, and how much more they can earn. Kids can also request a cashout, which parents can accept or decline.
